Working with the Boy Scouts

The following are some of the community service projects that Troop 222 has completed over the past few years. All projects were planned, organized, and supervised by Eagle Scout candidates. Candidates submitted project proposals to both the benefiting organization and Boy Scouts of America for approval. Project proposals included drawings of project, a budget, necessary supplies, and estimated of labor needed.Candidates through personal funds or contributions procured materials. They organized and supervised all labor and equipment.

Billy Nelson’s Eagle Project (2007) at the Gypsum Shooting Range, Gypsum, CO. The Troop under Billy’s supervision built five stands, deck, retaining wall, and access trail.






Evan Kutnicki’s Eagle Project (2008) at the Town of Eagle Rest area, Eagle CO. The Troop under Evan’s supervision maintained and painted the businesses directory display, restored and painted a park bench, restored the White River National Forest map display.






Prather Silverthorn’s Eagle Project (2009) at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum, CO. Prather researched the cemeteries burial history, and grave site locations. He then prepared a directory to the grave sites and designed a display to house and protect the directory. The Troop under Prather’s supervision, built the display structure.




Michael El-Bitar’s Eagle Project (2010) at the SOS Outreach Team’s Course, Minturn, CO.Michael planned and supervised the replacement of the back bridge, giant thumb, and construction of rope swing and several trails.

Nature Trail and interpretive signing at the Sylvan Lake Visitor Center

Benches along the bike path in Eagle Ranch

Access trail from Town of Gypsum Skate Park to Baseball fields

Highway Cleanup

Color Guard presentations for Relay for Life, Methodist Church, 4th of July celebrations and Steve Fossett’s memorial

Thanksgiving food baskets
